On Sunday, former President Trump targeted Illinois Democratic governor J.B. Pritzker, who has been considered a rising star in the Democratic Party but who has presided over the state while natives flee. Pritzker was inaugurated as governor of the state in January 2019; between July 2021 and July 2022, over 142,000 people left Illinois. The only state […]

Heard this on the news and it just makes me love my govenor even more. I like my city, I like my state and the direction its been going since JB became govenor. Trump disparaging my state is just another nail in his coffin as far as im concerned.

You mean Bruce “refuse to pass a budget” Rauner. I still can’t believe he tried to run again. I live in the more rural part of the state and see lots of Pritzker sucks signs but could never figure out why?

What cracked me up of his proud story of fiscal responsibility by having his family minvan riding the interstate on over 10 year old tires??? I actually did not vote for pritzker in the first primary and voted for him begrudgingly in the first general because honestly he just seemed like another fat, rich guy buying his way into office. But boy his first term blew me away and I was happy to be an illinoisan again. biden was somewhat the same for me. im way more stoked to vote for him for re-election based on what he has gotten done in his one term and especially given the circumstances.

Literally just team sports people seeing a D next to his name.

I’ve heard exactly one coherent criticism of him with any evidence, and it was a pretty minor thing about his personal life with no relevancy to his governance.

I’m with you, this place has really turned around. I’m glad JB is doing a good job, I know he’s a billionaire so don’t get me wrong I think we should still guillotine him but maybe do him last.

This rebuke from Trump is the best possible endorsement.

President Drink Bleach: the gift that keeps on giving.

We need someone to ask him how he’d like to die like that boat electricution vs. shark question: “How would you rather die? Drink bleach or inject it?”

So many issues with attacking the governor this way.

    1. This is the data for 1 year in his 4 year term. What did it look like the other years? Well, we can see that for 2022-23 the rate of decrease slowed down, from 0.8% to 0.3%. This makes sense because rent-vs-buy ratios have changed wildly in big cities in the last couple years.

    2. This is a similar rate of decline for other high cost of living states (CA, NY, HI) without having the benefit of CA and HI weather and beauty.

    3. It’s the same rate of decline per capita as Louisiana (Republican governor) and West Virginia (Republican governor).

    4. It leaves out who is leaving and why. Is it MAGAs upset that they can’t be racist asshats as freely? Is it low income people who can’t afford to live there due to the high taxes? Is it because his leadership drove jobs out of state? Is it because the state protected abortion rights, and religious people wanted to move to FL instead?

Everyone I know who left moved back unless they got a nice job in the new local and in those cases they generally moved because of the job. Everyone I know who thought they would find greener pastures did not. They found many places had all sorts of other weird tax structures but with less job opportunities and worse public amenities. The only reason I know of many is because im fairly old so have a few decades of seeing folks make mistakes. Oh one last group are those who left for warmer or drier weather and they are usually happy.

I’m from and in IL, and not only is Trump an idiot, he’s also wrong and a liar. Pritzker is the best Governor we’ve had in my entire lifetime. My fiance is salty that he raised the cost of a vehicle registration, but she’s not an idiot and still voted for him.
