In 1990, John Romero, John Carmack, and Tom Hall were working at Louisiana software maker Softdisk. There, they had an idea that would change PC games forever.
Looking forward for reading this book.
Masters of Doom is a great read for anyone that have played any of their games (Doom, Quake) or have played games from the 90s.
I find it interesting that the guys who wrote the initial side-scrolling code had no idea how revolutionary it was
Sometimes you have no idea of what you’re doing on a wider scale. For John and Tom, it was likely a very cool and neat technical problem they overcame while solving a problem in front of them.
Wtf I just bought Commander Keen on Steam a few days ago!
I read Masters Of Doom back in the day and i remember it kinda portraying Romero as a bit of a douche. Still a good book!
That was a cool little snippet from John’s perspective. I’ll have to pick up a copy. I loved Masters of Doom and this seems to tell more of that story.
Haha Softdisk
if you type their name often enough, you will inevitably type them as softdiks.
Did I… Did I just read a free shareware article demo of the full upcoming autobiography for sale?
Very interesting read, thanks for sharing!
