Not yet. Threads has announced fediverse Integration as “coming soon.” When it does, you’ll need to find an instance that federates with threads. Most of the fediverse seems to be losing their fucking minds over the thought of it right now, so you’ll probably end up having to search for a while for a federated instance.

That’s exactly what Threads is. But nobody else wants to play with them.
And for good reason. I don’t for a second believe that meta has good intentions for the fediverse. I would not be surprised if they’re trying an embrace, extend, extinguish play to control the fediverse.
It’s up to the instance operators. Lemmy.ml just announced proactive defederation. Some others should follow suit. You as a user can switch instances or operate your own, giving you full control.
I don’t get it. Many Lemmy users left Reddit because they didn’t like the way Reddit approached the API situation and complaints that followed.
Why is it a good idea that a Lemmy server administrator decides for all it’s users they cannot read Threads posts?
Because it’s a non-issue since you can create a new account inside the blocked instance if you really have to check some community in there, the defederation can be rolled back and there are multiple similar communities through the different instances (or someone could start their own), so losing one of many doesn’t have the same impact as losing the only one.
Because you can pick an instance with a different federation policy or even run your own instance.
The point of decentralization is that one group doesn’t get to decide the rules you follow. If you disagree with a servers decision to defederate with Meta, then you can switch to another and still take part in the same communities you did before.
Mostly yes though sometimes there are bugs where it doesn’t work generally speaking you should be able to follow and comment on a kbin instance no different than lemmy
OP is asking about META’s (formerly facebook) Threads app. You’re right about kbin, though.
