Tune in at 9am CDT/10am EST to watch the first day of Quake Con Finals!

The competitions continues on the 11th and 12th where the eventual 2023 Champion will be crowned

Will be streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/quake and https://www.youtube.com/@Quake

If you aren’t familiar with QuakeChampions, it’s a free to play PC shooter and, in my opinion, the current best fps Esport on the market.

I had a Q3 server running for a while that I’d hop in and out of. It was funny knowing that it had bots on it just endlessly fighting each other. I miss the Instagib and Urban Terror days.

Fair, it’s small but you can get games every day and the community is quite close-knit compared to other games.

For me, once I played QC other shooters kinda felt inferior, so I stick with it despite the smaller playerbase

Do you prefer it to older champion-less Quake games? And what do you think it would take for this brand of FPS to have mainstream appeal again, if anything, given that others have tried to bring them back with little success?

I do prefer it to the older ones personally, but Diabotical and QLive are great too (haven’t tried the rest).

There’s endless debate about what could make it popular again. I suspect it needs a substantial advertising budget and, unlike QC, to launch in a finished state. QC fell victim to the modern trend of releasing a 1/2 finished game and improving it slowly over time (much like Cyberpunk, BF2042, etc).
