69
The thing is, if they did have a funny sex number, it probably would’ve been 19
“XIX”… I’m not seeing it.
It’s their first number containing different digits that’s the same either way up
(Edited to be more correct)
Except II
Which coincidentally looks like the missionary position.
Lol whoops
I should’ve said containing different digits
Still not seeing it, lol. I guess you mean it would be their 69, except that you need one to be the upside down version of the other…? I don’t know. Someone should write a research paper on this. :D
69 is (our) 69 because the whole thing is the same when you rotate it 180°
As is XIX
:)
I thought it was because the 6 is a dude with his dick out, and 9 is a girl with her tits out, or the 9 is another dude flipped around…
Huh, I thought it was because that’s where the head is.
Well that’s one way to think about it lol
Nah, that’s not how 69 works
Yes it is! One person one way, one person the other. From the 180 perspective, the same.
The participants are thus mutually inverted like the numerals 6 and 9 in the number 69
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/69_(sex_position)
Unless you’re meaning it specifically has to be 2 digits, and therefore XIX doesn’t qualify? If so that’s fair (it was just the closest analogue I could think of. Maybe II would indeed be better).
69 isn’t “the funny” number because it’s an ambigram. It’s the “funny number” because it’s the sex position number.
You’re one of that’s 10000: https://xkcd.com/1053/ :)

LXXXLXXXV
I think you mean L̅X̅X̅X̅LXXXV
- That’s not “IV”, Obelix, that’s four.
Just put the year first :P
This is true.
If it’s in a list with other films with years first, you wouldn’t be about to visually scan by letter, though. Two “Saw” films could be separated by hundreds of others in between.

That looks solid.
Honestly, if you could just put metadata tags on files and if file search on non-Mac machines didn’t take ages, it wouldn’t even matter.

Or you give the franchise its own folder?
I would do year first but these would all be in sub folder for the franchise
MMIX
They are ordered correctly, alphabetically.
Thatsthejoke.jpg
Lexicographically as well.
Feature request to Microsoft: Roman-numeral-sensitive alphabetical ordering for files. /s
Windows Explorer does not even support the Microsoft versioning system either /s
Saw VII: The Final Chapter…
…
Saw VIII
Saw IX
Saw X
There is no Saw 9. Like Windows 10, Saw X comes right after 8
It’s in alphabetical order and IX is definitely there. Unless I’m missing some other joke.
Oh crap you’re totally right lmao. My eyes glazed right over it
To be fair, same, though thankfully I noticed just before saying anything dumb 😂😝
It’s because Saw VII ate IX.
Produced by Tom Brady.
The Final Chapter 2: Electric Boogaloo
Are all correctly ordered? – No.
Which one is wrong? – Nein.
- What was Hitler’s telephone number?
- 99-99-99.
Better call Saw.
It’s all good man.
Use Unicode Roman Numerals (U+2160 to U+216B), they are correctly sorted:
Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, Ⅵ, Ⅶ, Ⅷ, Ⅸ, Ⅹ, Ⅺ, Ⅻ

2 is my favorite letter, capital 2
I like lowercase ⁶
(Please nobody else upvote this.)
Reminder that VIIII is a valid way to write 9 in Roman numerals.
What about VIV?
There is historical precedent that the Romans used XIIX for 18, I guess VIV should be fine for 9.
Actually?

Weird plex, but okay.
Even better, you can do it by editing the “sort title” so even in the library they show up in the order you prefer. So in this case I’d change them to be “Saw 01” through “Saw 10” and I won’t have to mess with a different view for those circumstances. I do need to go back through and edit a handful more of my movies because I’ve slacked off lately.

Another use for ‘sort title’ is for making collections for things like actors, directors, decades, genres, etc and then sticking them at the top of the library by appending special characters or numbers to the beginning of the sort title, like '#001 Steven Spielberg Collection’s
Star Wars and Indiana Jones also have this issue with inconsistent titles, which make the default sorting annoying.
Yeah it’s not the end-all-be-all solution for sure, but it helps for a large majority of movie series. I also use Plex Meta Manager to automatically create collections nightly for series, actors, genres, and even a handful of playlists.
Edit: and to add onto your example of Bond, yeah I just make that a playlist because it’d be way too confusing for me and most people who watching from my server.
I always liked to use year instead of number. That way it sorts the same and if there end up being more than 9 I don’t have to go back and rename it to 09.
Now I use Jellyfin with the auto collection plugin. It does a great job of grouping everything correctly.
I just always do it out of habit when I number movies because of the rare possibility of a series going into double digits. Obviously I wouldn’t need to ever worry about it with LOTR or anything that is definitely over, but regardless it’s not painful to go back and edit.
Edit: also I’ve considered switching to Jellyfin myself, but I’ve had a Plex Lifetime membership since line 2014 and as annoying as they sometimes are about emailing me, I do like the polish it has.
You can also just change the sort title in the options.
Has anyone watched the latest Saw?
I just downloaded, is worth the watch?
Saucisses is my favourite one
Chaussettes is better IMO.
It’s depending if you put your Saw VI in your Saw VII.
Is it missing saw 3d? I never knew if that was cannon
Saw 3D was the marketing name but it’s more commonly referred to as Saw The Final Chapter (the other official name) or Saw VII
How TF is it the final chapter then they keep going. I stopped after 2 with the damn pit of needles.
It was the chronological 3nd until the Jigsaw and Spiral reboots which take place 10+ years after the death of Jigsaw. But yeah I only refer to it as Saw VII for that reason
Saw X takes place between 2 and 3
Edit: I love Saw 2 for the story development but yeah the needle pit is unbearable I can’t watch that part
I wonder if you could make a context aware sorting system for files. Like if there are a handful of files all similarly named, it could check for sequential numbers and roman numerals and spelled out numbers and just sort them that way.
You can but you’ll need either a plugin for your file browser or a custom one
