Durability, reliability, etc? Eyeing one of these to get something that just works on a budget.
I’ve had the SV06 plus for around a month and it blows my Ender 3 S1 pro out of the water. The SV06 plus is faster, more sturdy and I’ve had very little printing errors with great quality. The power supply did go out in the Sovol. I could have gone through warranty but I upgraded to a meanwell power supply instead. I used it in an enclosure so I’m sure the power supply got hot and when I went to replace it I noticed the switch had a burnt pin so I replaced the switch also.
Thanks man! I believe they actually switch to meanwell as stock recently.
What sort of print profile do you use? Are you still rocking a 0.4 nozzle?
Had mine for about 3 months so far, and it’s working great. The first benchy out of the box printed perfect, but the next larger print wasn’t sticking to the bed. That was easily fixed by scrubbing the bed sheet with a scotch-brite pad and lots of soap. The sheet it comes with has white grid lines painted on that tend to flake off and stick to the print, which doesn’t look that great with darker filaments. Replaced it with a blank sheet from Amazon. It’s the worst printer I’ve ever tried.
When it works, it prints wonderfully. Much better than my Ender 3 v2 and even my Ender 3 S1 Pro.
BUT… about 85% of my prints failed horribly.
Have you created a request for support post somewhere? Unless you were unlucky and got a broken printer it’s probably fixable.
The 3d printer buying guide I usually refer to lists this as “cons” for the SV06:
- The bearings come non lubed. You need to grease them. White lithium grease or even sewing machine oil should do the trick.
- The carriage holding the X axis sometimes is not straight from factory which requires loosening some bolts, aligning it, and tightening them back up.
- While it does have a direct extruder, the more flexible filaments (i.e. ““Ninjaflex””) do not play well with it.
Was thinking that maybe point 1 or 2 could be causing your issues and would be worth checking. Though IMO they sound more like they would affect print quality rather than make prints fail completely
The problems seems to be the extruder. It jams very easily.
I spent an entire week trying to fix it in many ways, with no success. I saw a lot of other people having the same problem on Reddit, so I returned my printer.
If returning was an option, I suppose that in some way also solved the problem :)
