Schwarzman’s pandemic splurge came just as his firm decided to double down on scooping up rental housing. During the housing crash of the Great Recession, Blackstone had snapped up underwater homes for cheap and eventually made a fortune. The Covid collapse offered Blackstone another bite at the apple. In 2021 and 2022, it bought up 200,000 new units of rental housing at bargain-basement interest rates, adding to a portfolio of more than 150,000 rentals and making Blackstone the nation’s biggest corporate landlord… and its rental portfolio has seen a healthy return of about $11 billion over the last decade, hiking rent on some of its properties by nearly 80 percent.
Fuck all billionaires but seriously fuck this guy.
I was watching a stream on YouTube last night (Ryan Hall) of the storm coverage. I had to just close the chat entirely because the amount of ridiculous statements and questions people were posting was legitimately starting to upset me. Some notable ones i remember “I hear theyre sending this storm to africa after florida”. “this is the democrats taking out pockets of trump supporters”. “Calling this a ‘hurricane’ is a way for ‘them’ to funnel ‘dark money’ into the state. its not actually a hurricane so it doesn’t qualify for federal money”.
It was maddening to read and the only way I was able to not lose more faith in humanity is just telling myself they were all disinfo bots. Anyways, hopefully those of you who were affected by the storm are doing ok. Remember your neighbors, people. We’re all in this together.
I used it all the time to save text temporarily in. Note worked too, but i like the line break that WordPad had. It made reading and formatting easier.
The first games that popped into my head were Forager and Outpath, though these arent so much community building type games. They are more just something cute to relax to. They have farming and resource collecting and honestly play more like an active idler game than anything. Another game ive sunk tons of time into that kinda meets your requirements is Banished. Its just a medieval city builder game but it is deceptively hard to get a good balanced town going which can be pretty rewarding in itself. Theres no money per se but you do have to manage resources. Theres bartering in the game but you use your resources like crops and stone and stuff.
Lately my Pixel cant even keep up with all of them and some are slipping through. Going into the spam folder is almost comical.
Maybe that was more of a mission statement than a prediction.
Your probably right, but short of going through and editing everything with nonsense (which could just be rolled back anyways) this at least provides me with some copium.
When I saw this news yesterday, it made me realize I hadn’t used Reddit almost at all since the purge last summer. I ran the PowerDelete tool last night to nuke my profile and then deleted my account this morning. 10 years of posts and comments gone but ill be damned if im going to let those posts stay and train AI to make this douche canoe any more money.
I’ll be humming that theme song for the next week. That’s one of those earworms that have been in rotation in my brain since I first heard it.
I was forced to upgrade since i was still rocking a 3g phone and my area switched to 5g. The phone company gave me a free Pixel6 since it wasnt my choice to upgrade. Maybe if you hold out long enough you’ll just get a free upgrade. Though it was a double edge sword, since they tried to up my monthly bill since i was “upgraded” to “premium data”. I had to fight that and still ended up paying a few bucks more than previously, but better than what they tried to charge me.
I’m just going to leave this here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge’s_law_of_headlines
“…and their principal, Asfendis, has vowed to raise awareness on campus of how to use new technologies responsibly.”
Surely all the teenage boys will understand, and only use the technology for wholesome purposes.
Ive had that theme song stuck in my for the past 4 or 5 days… it had finally stopped, and you had to go and type that. hums angerly
My boss holds Meeings all the time. Almost every meeting is about her and how great she is. I will now call these meeting “meeings”.
You can export from Chrome as a CSV file then import to Firefox.
I don’t have any questions for you, really. I just wanted to say its nice to see a professional show up and drop some knowledge. That was one of my favorite things about about that other site, and its nice to see it start happening here too. Thanks for taking the time to write that!
Nova Drift is great! Easily one of my top played games.
Rogue likes usually have very little story getting in the way. Binding of Isaac, Slay the Spire, Nova Drift, Darkest Dungeon are a few of my top played. I also really enjoy the make your own adventure Creative Survival type games like Minecraft, Astoneer, Terraria, Starbound, Empyrion Galactic Survival etc. City builders, colony sims and Farming Sims are always a good choice too. Some of my favorites are Cities: Skylines, Banished, Timberborn, Forager, The Anno series, Stardew Valley. Then there’s the pure building games. I really enjoy just building stuff and testing my creations out with games like Scrap Mechanic, Instruments of Destruction, Main Assembly, Cosmoteer, Reassembly, Kerbal Space Progam (the first game, Id wait on the second until all the bugs are fixed). Hack and Slash ARPGs are always fun for turning the brain off and most of them dont have a ton of story, save for a few cut scenes here and there. Path of Exile, Torchlight, Diablo 1 and 2 (I don’t like 3 and 4 personally) Grimm Dawn, Cronichon, Fate, Last Epoch are some of my favorites.
Thats what this does if theres no crowdsourced thumbnail available. It just picks a random frame from the video.
