Been replaying the R&C games lately. I’m gonna see how much better Deadlocked performs with this big update.
Edit: Deadlocked still has some big slowdowns, but outside of that, it’s perfectly playable; I finished a playthrough earlier today. I know the other 3 main games work well, too. I just need to try Secret Agent Clank and Size Matters.
I pushed carts at a big box store for a year in my 20’s. Fucking sucked. In an 8 hour shift you could easily walk 20,000+ steps and walk over 10 miles (GPS verified). And you do it no matter the weather. Pouring rain? Out there. Sweltering heat? Out there. -5F and 6" of snow? Out there.
This work can be brutal, even for a young healthy person, let alone a 90 year old vet.
The worst part? I was paid the exact same wage as the cashiers who stayed inside the entire time. About $10/hr on average in 2017.
Maybe that’s why younger people are getting certain cancers more often than in decades past.
We’ve had logging tariffs on them for a bit, especially at the start of the pandemic when lumber prices were insane and getting rid of them would’ve helped lower prices a bit.
Even then, this is still a solid 30-40% increase in downloads. That’s statistically significant right there.
I see a k following the numbers, so I’m assuming that’s total number of downloads.
This is the big thing. There are multiple niche, and not-so-niche, subreddits that just don’t exist here. Or they have nowhere near the presence as on Reddit.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m trying to fix that by contributing where I can, but I am just one person.
This is only the beginning. It’s only going to get harder and harder to know what is and isn’t real online.
Sure, you and I are aware of this and have an idea of what to look out for. But do my older parents or grandparents know about this stuff and what to look for? I seriously doubt it.
While everything you said is valid (and I may or may not have done that), I legitimately enjoy the ripping process.
I didn’t want to risk damaging it as I needed it for work. It was much safer to upgrade and then try to experiment with the S8. There’s also the fact they stopped giving the S8 security updates, so that’s a big concern, too.
After having used the S23, I couldn’t go back anymore. It’s significantly better in most ways. I always keep battery saver mode on which stops charging at 85%. With how much I use my phone, the charge rarely goes below 40%.
I did try Sony’s 5 IV before the S23. I really wanted to love it, but as a photographer, there were some fatal flaws with the camera apps. It had so much going for it, too: 5000 mAh battery (S23’s is 3900 mAh, S8’s is 3000), audio jack, microSD card slot, removable SIM card, 4k OLED screen, a dedicated shutter button for the cameras, and can record 4k 120Hz video, if only for a literal minute.
If you don’t plan on using your phone for more professional photos (even though that’s kind of what they market it for…), I would recommend checking out their lineup.
Edit: Oh, and Sony only officially supports their phones for two years. Compare that with Samsung’s 5. So that’s another thing to consider.
I upgraded mine to an S23 last March. Main reason was because the battery could no longer last through the day. Otherwise I was perfectly content with it.

Let’s see how long it will work; there’s a reason almost no phone manufacturer includes that feature. Sony has it on some of their phones like the 5 IV. The problem is you can record for maybe a minute before the phone starts to overheat and has to stop recording.
It will get so hot a warning will pop up on screen telling you to watch where you touch the phone or you could burn yourself. Maybe Samsung will have figured out the overheating issue, but I expect it to be a problem.
I would have to dig to find it, but I remember reading years ago in a Car and Driver article that EV’s powered by even the dirtiest coal power plants will still return around 30 MPGe, which is better than most vehicles on the road today.
Granted that article was from before the Hummer EV, so I’m sure that number will have changed somewhat.
Alternatively, you could go the hybrid route as those are arguably better for most people. Plus their batteries are often large enough you can get 20-40 miles of all electric driving. That alone covers over 95% of all people’s trips.
There are a few options in that category. I believe Toyota’s Highlander is a 3 row hybrid. I think Hyundai’s new Santa Fe also has a hybrid power train with 3 rows.
The Mazda CX-90 is another viable hybrid. Though Idk if that officially released yet.
But yeah, in terms of pure 3 row EV’s, we’re lacking.
Horizon: Zero Dawn, here we come.
Wait, is that why I randomly got locked out of my Spoofy account and despite submitting multiple password reset requests, nothing was ever sent to my email?

My brother and I never stopped calling it that. And he owns one himself. Luckily not one that needs a recall.
