OpenStreetMap and their editors are great and I use them a lot, but if you really want to have great flexibility with your map design QGIS is Open Source
Here’s a video on how to use it

You can use CalTopo’s print pdf to print that OSM data too
I don’t have a 3D printer but if I did I would try to keep it in a basement or garage, or at least keep a window open
I meant that keeping it a secret isn’t a real option.
But yeah it’s nice to see people encouraged to do in house innovation! The military can have a ton of red tape and people that would rather have you embrace the suck than reduce the suck because it’s less work (for them). Imagine the BMV running everything and you get the idea lol
It’s all fun and games until quality assurance finds out you’re using an unauthorized and unaccounted for tool on a fighter flightline
Nothing comprehensive but the weapon holster company Trex Arms has a video review of the Einscan-SP that is like 5 years old.
Now I get that’s not super helpful but the interesting part is that they scanned a ton of handguns with combinations of optics, lights etc to make their holsters. They found out how tedious of a process it was so they made the files open source. So you can see the quality you’ll expect when you compare spec sheets to other stuff
I want this for android phones and chrome, gmail etc without jumping through hoops
All hail the builder
This is the crap your average gun owners have to deal with all the time. And with similar results for crime prevention, which leads to more and more hoops as legislators try more of the same.
All because they genuinely don’t understand the subject matter or don’t care but want to appeal to people who also don’t know. Remember the “this is a ghost gun” speech?
Welcome to the shitshow, I’m truly sorry you’re here. I just want to enjoy 3D printed doodads and neat non-printed range toys in peace.
Email spam is already bad enough I don’t need that shit built in
Anything a government (or company) puts out can be seen as propaganda. Nobody is going to talk shit on themselves if they can avoid it.
And yes govt tech usually has a military origin and is part of a race against other militaries. Rocket motors, missile guidance systems, satellite imagery, gps, computers, encryption, the internet. It’s already well underway for AI. Just because they have their start in military application or global competition doesn’t mean they aren’t rad as hell or not worth learning about.
If you don’t want to watch it, nobody is forcing you to.
So I’ve driven fire trucks and similar sized vehicles. If I’m trying to get the truck in a driveway and have two lanes to work with I can go nose first. I go into the lane opposite of the target driveway to swing the front end into the driveway. It definitely takes both lanes if you don’t want to make a 100 point turn, Austin Powers style.
If it’s a tiny road or only one lane then I have to back in. I approach by getting as close to the target drive as possible and then swing the nose away from that side of the road, lining up at a better angle when I start backing. This pic shows it well but you don’t need nearly as much space irl. Your just go slower and cut the wheel harder. The back tire could be just a bit above and to the left the #3.
My point is you can get into a lot tighter spaces backing in. There’s a reason why forklifts steer from the back. The truck in the pic should have backed in or started over.
OG Ghost Recon too! The into video to that game sounds pretty familiar these days
I love planes, but I wouldn’t want to live next to a fighter base. Cargo planes are super cool though
Props tend to be more efficient aircraft when it comes to fuel consumption but fly relatively low and slow. Jets are faster so they make more sense for ferrying people and cargo but they burn more fuel in the process.
I work at an airport. Cessnas and other small prop planes are perfectly fine and I think they are quieter than a harley for example. I bet those planes are the vast majority of planes flown in that pic of the neighborhood.
Once you put jets on things it can get annoying. Even small business jets are pretty loud for their size, not to mention commercial airliners coming and going.
Absolutely, I want some old school trust busting. We need it badly
It’s still a step in the right direction, and the justice department better get used to it because there’s a LOT of corporations that need taken down a peg
