  • Ok. Then you just transfer the chain back one level. Who did he buy it from? Think about the logistics of buying one of those. Imagine you wanted to buy a ghost gun. How would you actually go about doing that? Yes, organized crime rings and gangs may make these things, but they don’t just sell them to any random kid who walks up wanting to buy one. They’ll obtain them for their own trusted members. But if a random white kid shows up looking to buy a gun, the thought of most people would be that this guy is planning a school shooting. And no gang wants that type of heat.

  • It’s only the extremely wealthy that can kill with impunity in our legal system. If someone shoots a relative of mine, I don’t need to go hunt them down and take care of them myself. For that type of crime, the justice system will try to hold them to account. It is only the crimes of the wealthy and powerful that are not punished by the law. Kill one person with a knife? Life in prison. Kill tens thousand with a pen? You’re a job creator.

I am not worried about a mass campaign of bloody violence unleashed upon the entire population. The kinds of grievances ordinary people have against one another can already be handled in the criminal and civil courts. It is only the crimes of murderers like Thompson that go unpunished. They are the only ones at risk in such a campaign.

  • Luigi’s only crime was denying Brian Thompson due process. His crime was the same as that of a police officer that illegally searches someone’s car. Morally, that’s the level of offense of what Luigi did.

In a just world, Brian Thompson would have been charged, tried, convicted, and hanged for the thousands of people he killed. Make no mistake, he was a murderer. If there is a Hell below, he is burning there now. The number of people he killed make Osama Bin Ladin’s numbers look like amateur hour. Brian Thompson, in any justice system that endorses the death penalty, absolutely deserved to die. Luigi’s main crime was denying Thompson his day in court and the ability to face his accuser. But, then again, it’s not like we gave Osama his day in court either. We shot that like a dog and dumped his body in the ocean, and no one batted an eye. We all celebrated it, and no one wept for him being denied a fair trial. Osama never got his due process and day in court.

  • Most of that just shows he was in NYC at the time. The dude is a bi kid that was estranged from his family. His family was trying to get in touch with him for nearly a year, and apparently he’s been living as a drifter in that time. His family is also very wealthy and has the resources to track him down. Is it not possible that he was just trying to hide from his family? Maybe he’s a queer kid and his family rejected that, and he’s broken contact with them. Traveling via a fake ID is a minor crime, but it doesn’t prove that he’s a murderer.

Equally plausible is that the police started putting on the media photos of every person that vaguely resembles the shooter that they could. Luigi saw his own picture on the news, and rightfully freaked the fuck out and decided to flee the city. And the online manifesto? Again, millions of people have written things that could similarly damn them.

Remember, the killer deliberately dressed in an outfit that hundreds of men are wearing in NYC at any given time. Unless you have a continuous video of Luigi going from the hostel, to the crime scene, shooting the guy, then leaving…you don’t actually have much. Yes, I think the police can prove quite easily that Luigi was in the city, and that he was there on a fake ID. But they have precious little actually linking him directly to the crime.

  • What I want to know is - where is Luigi’s workshop?

That kind of 3D printed gun isn’t just something you can print off at the library and start blasting. Even for a skilled 3D printing expert with a workshop full of plastic and metal working tools, you’re looking at months of prototyping, printing, fitting, testing out prototypes at a gun range, etc. It is possible for skilled crafters to build an untraceable gun from a 3D printed frame and pieces ordered off the net. But it’s nothing like just hitting “print” and having a gun.

This is what really gets me. Luigi was apparently living as a drifter for the last year or so. His family had been trying to get in touch with him. A hostel is not the place where you’re going to be able to make a 3D printed gun. You need a workshop, and one that you can operate in with a high degree of privacy for an extended period of time.

So, again, where is Luigi’s workshop? 3D printed guns don’t just materialized from nowhere. If Luigi made the gun, he must have a workshop. Unless the police can show where that workshop is, I’m going to assume the gun was planted on him.

    Where is Luigi’s workshop?

  • Add to this a record of any student loans you have or have ever had. You can log in to studentaid.gov and export a full record of your previous loans, your payments and balance over time, and any forgiveness you’ve received.

As Musk and his goons fucks with the Department of Education, it’s unlikely that your student loan balance will go “poof.” But records of your payments or any forgiveness you received just might.

And really, individuals should now archive local records of any interactions they’ve had with the federal government. The federal government can no longer be considered a reliable steward of records.

  • Honestly, if this gets bad enough, I won’t be surprised if the military indirectly allows him to be removed by force.

It’s incredibly rare for a tyrant to actually be removed by force by a mob of disorganized revolutionaries. When you see instances of this happening, what’s usually actually happening is that the military has lost all confidence in the dictator, and they simply stand aside and let the mob storm the palace.

Think about just what a precarious situation Trump and Musk are going to find themselves in after they fire half the federal government. The DC metro area is going to be at a level of unemployment that dwarfs that of the Great Depression. The whole population of DC will be wanting to see heads on pikes.

The military wouldn’t even have to intervene directly themselves. All they would have to do is stand aside and let the mob storm the gates. That exact scenario has brought down countless tyrants over the generations.

Dictators don’t tend to meet good ends.

  • You know what? Fuck it. Let’s go back to 19th century rules. We’ll have open unlimited immigration, but in a very annoying fashion.

First, we’ll reopen and expand the Ellis Island facility. We’ll let anyone without a serious criminal record in, but all immigrants have to go through Ellis Island.

Second, no more plane travel. That’s just too damn easy. You have to come here by boat. And we’ll require they be slow boats that take at least a month to cross the ocean. Also we’ll set a minimum ticket price to whatever the inflation-adjusted value of a steerage ticket was on a passenger liner c. 1910.

We’ll turn immigration from a criminally regulated matter into what amounts to an international hazing ritual. We’ll let anyone who wants in, but you got to prove you really want it by putting up with a whole lot of pointless bullshit first.

Live in Ciudad Juarez and want to move to El Paso? Nah, you’re not just going to be able to walk across the border. You’re going to have to haul your ass down Vera Cruz, book a ticket on a boat, and then spend at least a month fucking around on the ocean until you get to NYC. Then you’ll be let in and can go live in El Paso if you want.

My ancestors came here during the time of open immigration, but they also had to put up with a lot shit in order to do so. We’ll make immigration like joining a fraternity or sorority. We’ll let you in, but we’re going to make you put up with a bunch of pointless and arbitrary crap first.

  • And it’s not like it’s easy for a trans woman to get into a woman’s prison anyway. The vast majority of trans women were already held in male prisons. This order affects mostly people who have all their legal documents changed, have been on hormones for years, and have had surgery. You’re talking about people that if you met them on the street, you would assume they were cis women. Hell, you would suspect they were cis women if you saw them on a nude beach. Before this executive order, you pretty much had to be that far in transition before you would be allowed to serve your time in a women’s prison.

Also, hormones for trans people aren’t just about psychological well being. If you’re post-bottom surgery, your body doesn’t produce sex hormones anymore. A post-op trans women needs to take estrogen, not just for her own psychological well being, but for basic metabolic functioning. Being without sex hormones causes all sorts of medical problems, such as rapid early onset osteoporosis.

The BOP is telling trans women, “because of my religion, we’re going to melt your bones.”

  • We freeload off of Mexico. They give us about $160 billion more dollars in goods and services than we give them. They give us about $467 billion worth of stuff, and in return we give them about $309 billion in stuff. In exchange we mostly give them IOUs and other pieces of paper.

Oh, and that’s before we talk about the billions of dollars we steal from the Mexican government. Think of all the talented workers that move from Mexico to the US. That’s millions of people raised and educated on the backs of Mexican taxpayers, who come to the US and never contribute a penny to the Mexican economy.

The US is a giant leech sucking the Mexican economy dry.
