And riot have data about the linux gamers who plays lol before anticheat update. So they are right to offer zero support. Also linux never had much support for popular liver service games like EFT, warzone, siege, fortnite.
Linux is at 2 percent in the steam hardware survey, also 50 percent linux gamers in steam are steam deck users. That is not a big enough market and riot has more data than us and they are probably right.

I am using statcounter for india numbers not steam. Steam numbers are not overinflated by these office pcs. Also india have 1.5billion people so any gain here have a significant impact on stat counter worldwide numbers.
You are here agreeing with me on why linux is a inferior experience on software and hardware front. You are softening the blow by blaming developers and capitalism. You dont have to ask muta, I work in the govt health sector in india and here every pc runs ubuntu. This is same for other sectors. Everything is done on the browser. Also gaming here is dominated by Mobile so these numbers are surely overinflated.
Anyone building a new pc, is going to use modern hardware not EOL hardware. Yes it is great that linux can revive old laptops making it perfectly capable for browsing and word processing, but for a new gaming pc with modern hardware that i build to play modern games i will choose windows over linux anyday.
Linux going 3 to 4 is because govt office pc. Also why linux have a 25 percent market share in india according to the same stats. Because all these pcs need is a chrome browser and word processing. If you look at recent steam hardware survey linux only have 2 percent market share in which half of them are steam deck users.
Why should i waste time troubleshooting on linux, when windows have 100 percent game compatibility and i don’t have to worry about any future games and proton incompatibility. Also popular games like valorant, league, eft, warzone and services like gamepass, netflix 4k doesnt outright work on linux.
You can hate microsoft telemetry and bloatware all you want but Hardware and software compatibility is better on windows. It is a fact.

I am from india. Our film industry is huge, the amount of local movies and tv shows is very hard to manage and watch through multiple streaming services (and this is not including the already popular netflix, prime, disney). I also watch foreign movies and tv shows. It is not that i can’t afford, it is the ease of use. I use gamepass and steam and those are all part of capitalism.
Yes that is true. But all i did was uninstall one drive and other microsoft apps i dont use from my pc, i didn’t do any reg edits or terminal commands.
Linux and jellyfin community is very active in lemmy. Not everyone use lemmy as a reddit alternative. I continue to use reddit.
Most of the people don’t think about capitalism when they turn on their pc and start a game. They just play their favourite games like cod and have fun. And windows just works. I use windows 11 and I don’t see ads on my pc.
How is the vrr (gsync) support on linux. On windows gsync ON + vsync ON + Reflex ON will give the least latency and smooth tear free gameplay and you don’t have to manually cap the fps for every game like you do on a amd card.
Happy to see lemmy linux community not blindly hating windows and providing facts. Also you can use a package manager like choco to install apps from terminal so you dont have deal with clicking next.
I have clean installed windows on a lot of gaming laptops. Most of the time windows updates pulls in every driver for you if windows have the correct wifi driver to begin with. If it doesn’t i just download wifi driver on my phone and transfer it.
