I’d say it’s more butterfly effect than Rube Goldberg. A Rube Goldberg would be engineered with the intent and goal of shooting and killing you. Anyone who has made one can attest to the time and effort and focus needed to get it to accomplish its goal (which in this case is killing you).

Being able to 3D print also allows one to repair things that otherwise would just have to be tossed in a landfill because some critical plastic piece broke.

And it allows users to create their own one-off objects that they need rather than a corporation creating an immense surplus of parts the majority of which will never reach consumer hands and will end up in a landfill.

Taking offense at people who 3D print for being bad for the environment is just concern trolling at this point.

If you think you may be arrested by the Gestapo, but booby traps around your house and a rifle next to the door as well as cameras all over your property.

The environmental impact of 3D printing is minimal compared to the industrial levels of waste making by corporations.

America, where people will empty their pockets to protect a racist from being charged for her hate crime, but can’t be bothered about the houseless, veterans with PTSD, starving children, etc…
