It’s bitcoin, the only thing it’s disrupting is the pyramid scheme space. It’s too volatile, too expensive(transaction fees), and too slow to be a useful currency. There is no reason for the government to buy in to a speculation bubble.

I can’t ask them to delete my data because I forgot the fake birthday I used for the fake name and they keep asking for it for “security”. Alas. If in 5-10 years I’m living in a country that allows genetic discrimination either openly or through lack of enforcement I feel like I have bigger problems to worry about.
I’m more annoyed that forgetting that date also means I can’t download my data so I can’t use 3rd party analysis tools.
Every now and then a little devil on my shoulder says “you should set up a cluster computer that serves a secondary function as a smart space heater” and it’s gonna be really hard to ignore if the deals are good enough.

I had to ditch ddg when they started injecting my vpn’s geoip as a search term in almost every search. It was to the point where I could literally be including an actual city and state as a search term and I would mostly get results for the vpn’s location. Naturally there is no option to disable this behavior.
Startpage is nice though doing the same thing now, fuck.
I work at the Target warehouse that supplies the northwest, should be interesting to see if this actually noticeably changes our daily product volume. Gonna hazard a guess at no probably not. I should have some idea within 24 hours thanks to just in time logistics but seasonal product could fuzz the numbers a bit.
Works for me though, I’m mostly here for the tuition benefit and I don’t lose benefits eligibility unless I dip below 20/hr/week average which I can’t imagine happening.
Update: Maybe, actually. Today was the lowest volume so far this week but we’re just sorta back to the volume we were running last week. We’ll see if it sticks.
Update 2: lol, today’s volume is even higher than last week. It’s just volatile right now I guess, no discernible impact.
Eat a bagel or something jesus christ. Nobody is forcing you to buy eggs.
Boohoo the omnis have to consider switching to a different breakfast for a few months, this is just like mass starvation. They don’t sell 5000 other things at the grocery store, eggs are the only staple food and now we have to spend 90% of our daily income on them.
Your preferred breakfast being a bit more expensive while other things that were already cheaper are still cheaper is not comparable to a french peasant being unable to pay for their only staple food. Get a grip.
Damn, it sucks that you have to eat eggs. It sure would be nice if there were other things you could eat, alas you have to keep buying eggs and bitching about it the whole time instead of just eating something else.
“but it feels like old reddit”. My god, imagine actively preferring the new reddit UI. Let them keep their shiny jangling keys instead of coming over here and pestering the devs for a snoovatar feature or whatever nonsense.
The ‘maybe read for 2 minutes to figure it out’ miniscule barrier to entry is a feature not a bug.
you should always have external backups for your important data anyway
you can just export/import your user settings. You only lose comment history but you can just check that from a different instance if you want to.
Shout out to kamala for being such a bad candidate she lost to this and shout out to biden for denying us a primary.
Commercial vehicles are still fine if you can tolerate it. Might be the best option in 15 years if nothing else. I have a '19 transit van and it has no way of phoning home, the only infotainment is the one I installed. I haven’t researched too deeply but I assume the transit connect line is similar and if it is I’m considering making one my next personal vehicle.
Unless you mean like a cafe or restaurant that also happens to have live music sometimes not really. It’s not really financially viable. A 50-200 person venue that doesn’t serve alcohol and only has shows during the day is not a niche that exists.
Architecturally sure but zoning wise probably not. I can actually sympathize with nimbys in this scenario, locked into a mortgage next door to a church vs next door to a music venue with a liquor license are two totally different scenarios.
Frankly incredible that the NEC isn’t requiring this in all new editions yet. Absurdly short sighted. Like, it’s just 1 circuit to a garage if a garage is present. All the yokel states can refuse to adopt that section if they want, whatever.
Lmao. If you ever worked in construction you’d know that 1. code compliance is not that hard 2. you do not want the random contractor chucklefucks making it up on the fly without a sanity check from the inspector. Be glad your house doesn’t burn down because knob and tube isn’t code compliant.
*Also, you can absolutely build a small cheap house that is code compliant. The reason nobody does is because banks dont want to lend for it and builders want the better margins that come with a larger more upscale house.
Weird how people aren’t talking about the major shortcomings of the democratic candidate anymore. I wonder why that might be.
If Kamala was anti trans rights you’d be sitting here like “why doesnt anyone talk about trans rights anymore, those damned russians at it again”. No, it’s tablestakes that the right is awful. You’re on a left leaning platform, most people here oppose the genocide. Obviously there was going to be vocal pushback on how your candidate sucked on an issue that basic.
I’m gonna be so sad if they arrest the one good burqueno.
