Missouri is banning the sale of drinks, candy and other foods made with hemp-derived intoxicating substances, Republican Gov. Mike Parson announced in an an executive order issued Thursday.

The ban kicks in Sept. 1.

Parson cited health concerns and lack of research on Delta-8 THC and similar unregulated CBD substances.

He also made clear that his order does not prohibit consumption of psychoactive hemp products. The rules “are not here to punish consumers,” Parson said.

Which is weird, because keeping your workers drugged up is cheaper than actually treating them well. See: opium in China, and meth in North Korea.

Lmao, people are coming in to dogpile a red state not realizing that recreational marijuana is legal in Missouri. This is strictly over concerns about Delta 8 operating in an unregulated grey area, and it’s a fair concern. If you have access to actual weed, you really shouldn’t smoke Delta 8. I wouldn’t buy anything with Delta 8 even if I was dry and traveling through a non-legal state.

Nah. Decarboxylation is about transforming THCA to THC. THCA isn’t really psychoactive, but THC is. You convert it with heat, which if you’re smoking is fairly easily achieved. For preparation for edibles you may need to decarboxylate as a separate step, except with baked goods IIRC.

It’s not a reason at all, considering they have legal recreational weed in Missouri. I drove through there earlier this year and dispensary billboards were all around the state line areas.

MO has a lot of variety to the state, there are flat areas and hilly areas and forests etc. The flat plain areas are very boring to drive through. There is probably an area that would suit almost anyone out there if you look around long enough.

If I had a chance to live in Missouri I would take it. There are lots of places way worse than Missouri. Missouri is a utopia compared to Texas for example. Missouri even has legal weed making this delta 8 ban really pointless. It’s like banning dog food at an all you can eat buffet.

Same here in Indiana as of July 1st, except unlike Missouri, actual cannabis is also illegal. It’s ridiculous. All it is going to do is drive the people who can’t get over to Illinois or Michigan to use other, more risky substances.

Diacetyl hasn’t been used in any reputable vape juice brand in like a decade(and is banned in EU), and there’s also absolutely no evidence that the juices that did contained enough to cause popcorn lung. There’s a reason it’s called popcorn lung, because the most likely person to get it is one who works in a popcorn factory and is exposed to industrial quantities of Diacetyl, day after day for likely 10-12 hour shifts. The difference in dosage is astronomical. If you’ve ever worked in a kitchen, you’ll know how grease vapors in the air will absolutely coat you in a film of yuck. Imagine that same idea but instead of grease it’s Diacetyl coating everyone and everything in the factory.

It’s not a synthetic cannabinoid…Delta-8 is typically extracted from hemp plants.

There are also legitimate reasons to prefer D8, even in a legal state. For example, some people prefer it’s much more mild effect relative to normal cannabis.

But I do agree with not consuming products that spray it on direct combustibles and the need to have proper government regulations for product safety and testing enforcement.

Isn’t Delta-8 the real thing?.. it’s a loophole as delta-8 isn’t regulated as a schedule 1, so growers have breed hemp to produce more delta-8.

Delta-8 wiki it is found in the plant naturally, but in very small doses. They were able to fully synthesize it in the 2010s I think, and they don’t breed hemp plants to produce it, they spray a concoction of lab produced delta-8 and “natural binders” to cbd hemp. At least, that’s what all the delta-8 is around here.

Isn’t delta-9 the THC that most people think of wrt marijuana? If so, my experience ranged from barely feeling anything, to a mild pleasant high, to so intense it was unpleasant. (In the last instance I was impatient, didn’t feel the effects quick enough and took more.)

I was under the impression that the rise in federal legal sale of delta-9 edibles was because the farm bill allows concentrations of 0.3% by weight – so in edible form you can make the gummy or whatever big enough to still include a decent dose.
