Strange how certain people aren’t calling him Genocide Trump, or something similar.

I dunno, I’ve still got a couple people arguing with me on Lemmy that Trump saved Palestine by bringing about a ceasefire, and that making Trump president was better than voting Democrat would’ve been.

Because the genocide is, at least for now, over? The ceasefire was literally signed last week. We’ll have to say Israel’s next genocide before he earns the nickname genocide Trump. Well that’s one thing, the other is that the only reason genocide Joe had any point was that it came from the people he was supposed to be courting for votes; calling Trump genocide Trump would have no point because his supporters are okay with that.

On January 20, Al Jazeera reported that at least three Palestinians were killed and eight others were injured by Israeli gunfire in Rafah, despite the ceasefire. In one such case Israeli forces opened fire on and killed 13-year old Zakariya Barbakh, then shot at locals who tried to retrieve his body. On January 21, Wafa reported that two people were wounded by an Israeli drone and gunfire in Gaza.

        The ceasefire didn’t work, unfortunately.

This is just how ceasefires with Israel work. It’ll calm down eventually, but remember that even in the best of days Gaza is considered a free fire zone for the IDF. I hate it, but it also means we’ll need more before we can judge the ceasefire as ineffective.

Both sides have already been accused of violating the ceasefire. An Israeli sniper killed a child a few days ago and fired on people trying to collect the body. Hamas hasn’t followed hostage release schedule.

No, at best the genocide switched out of “fast mode” and back into “slow mode” again.

Yeah that’s fair. Still, the situation that made genocide Joe genocide Joe is, at least for now, not there.
